Crazy weekend

So hubby is off at a business meeting for the week. He left last Thursday morning, so it has been quiet at home for the past few days. The thing is that I have not been home during that time... I think I see my bed, the bathroom, and the dining room, and that is all!

I worked on Thursday and Friday, had sewing on Friday night with the ladies. Saturday I was in the middle of planning a quilt when I realized that I needed to be out of the house before 11 am and it was 10:45 am when I looked at the clock. So much for doing any more quilt planning.

So, it was off to my girlfriends house on the South Shore area of Massachuetts (or about 35-45 minute drive from my house). I would have been on time if I had not gotten behind two funeral processions. One on the highway that the State Police stopped all movement on the highway so that the procession could be all together. It appeared that they where headed towards the Cape Cod section of Massachusetts. There is a large cemetary that a lot of military choose to be buried there. The 2nd one was after I got off the highway.

I spent the afternoon with my girlfriend, got her on gmail, twitter, and pinterest. Funny thing that I needed to have an email address for her 1st, in order to get a twitter account, in order for her to accept an invitation to pinterest from me. She is really into Quilling and there have been some fantastic examples of quilling on pinterest. I have tried for the past ten years to get her online with no results. All it took was seeing the wonderful examples of quilling to get her very interested on getting online. Funny how that happens.

Then it was off to my Mom's for a wonderful boiled dinner with her, my stepfather, and stepbrother.

All this translates into not being home on Saturday. Nor did I get a chance to get online to do an update of what I was up to... Then on Sunday, I had told another girlfriend that I would take a ride over to her house to pick up a crib that she was giving to me. I got over there and realized that my car is too small to carry all the parts. Still, I was there for a few hours, spending time with her and her mom, daughter, and brother. I got home and started on the quilt that I had been planning on Saturday morning and stiched up a storm! The top is done, but I need to take a picture with either my phone or the older SLR camera and hubby took the point-and-shoot that I love to use.

So, yes I have been among the missing... but I had mentioned that before. Hope you all are doing well and getting a chance to enjoy the weather. It has been wonderful here.

Thanks for stopping by, Ciao for now!

Time is flying!

I forget how fast time flies when you get into projects, family, and work! It seems that I am loosing take of my days here.

Work is interesting, a challenge which is nice. I am learning a lot about working within a manufacturing plant. Very different from the wold of healthcare.

I have not had a chance to correct the issues with the basket linings, nor work on the baby quilt.

Hubby is off to Baltimore and Atlanta for the week, so I am going to try to get some work done around here... Might be among the missing for a few days. We will see...

Thanks for stopping by! Ciao for now :)

Traveling once again...

We are up and getting ready to get on the road to Boston. Not up for dealing with traffic... But that will be less now, rather than later. It was great to spend time with my family in NYC and stay in NJ. But the time has come to head home.

On another note, I will have to post the Bloggers BOM when I get home, as I did not bring any projects with me to NJ/NY this weekend. If you are looking for the BOM Month 3 block. Click on the BOM link and you will head over to Canton Villge Quilt Works, where Jackie is highlighting the different months.

It is time to get on the road, where as Wednesday was a 7+ hour trip, I hope today will only be less than 5 hours.

So as I head out the door, coffee in hand...

Ciao for now! :)

Thankful for so much :)

As we are, at the beginning of another holiday season. I want to tell you how thankful I am for family and friends who have surrounded me with love and support. For those of us who have lost loved ones, the holidays are more often bittersweet, for you I send my thoughts, prayers, and warm hugs.

While we are traveling near and far to celebrate, a friend posted on Facebook, that we should take time to slow down, drive safely, keep an eye out for the idiots on the road who do not know how to drive in bad weather. We will be on the road this afternoon, headed for New Jersey. Yes, I will be taking it easy. Looking to go around NYC and hopefully miss all of that traffic.

That would be the City traffic... We will be taking the NJ Transit into Manhattan tomorrow to visit my sister, her family, and family friends for Thanksgiving dinner.

So while you may or may not be celebrating the holiday, I want to take the time to thank you for following this blog, and I hope that you have a Peaceful, Safe, and Joyful weekend.

Ciao for now :)

A very wet Wednesday

Here comes the rain... As if we had not had enough rain of late, we are getting a little bit more. It is gloomy, but I remind myself that for the longest time Texas has been wishing for what we have and I just think of warm soup, a warm quilt, and a good read and I am fine.

I heard from my cousin in Puerto Rico on Monday afternoon, a very quick text, "LOVES it."

Well yesterday (Tuesday) on Facebook I saw
"Tks a lot for the present. You are such an artist, wow!!!, we totally love it. Great job!!!! I can see a business there, go 4 it."

I am going to guess that they like the gifts... These are the pictures of what was sent to them within the box...

I'm in NJ, with my aunt, we spent yesterday getting a test done (got an early call to come in due to a cancellation) for her and this morning (24 hours later) she very happily said " no more test!" I so agree! I'm just the one sitting in the waiting room, she has been the one going thru all the different tests... So now they are done for a while and it is time to start packing.

I need to get a few quilt projects ready to go off to the quilter on Saturday. So I will be using the sewing machine here (I did bring one with me) in NJ for a little bit. Of course I do have a pair of pants to hem while I am here.

Thank you for joining me for my rant of the day and coffee :)

On the Road Again...

The Quilt Show was a success! One of my girlfriends quilt came in 3rd! She is giving it to a much loved aunt as a Birthday present, so I'll be quiet on that one for a bit. The quilts where amazing! Inspiring, and for some of my friends who have never been to a quilt show, a bit overwhelming. I am very happy that a few of my old friends got to see what I have been up to of late. :)

Speaking of Birthday presents... The package to Puerto Rico has been picked up at the Post Office... I don't know if it has gotten to my cousin's house as one of my sister suggested I touch base with one of my cousins family members to pick up the box before it was due to be shipped back... The PO sent a notice that it had been picked up on Saturday morning. :) Sweet! (10/18/2011 Note: I got a text message that my cousin LOVES the package! Glad to hear! Very glad they got it before it shipped back North!)

I am off to NJ this morning, my aunt has another test tomorrow. To say she is tired of doctors is an understatement... This test seems more along the line of the Dr's covering their collective butts than anything else, but still it is a pain in the butt for my aunt to have to thru all of these once again to cover their collective rears!

Still for me it is great for me that I have the opportunity to spend some time with her. We have done some things I would have never had the chance to do on my own! The trip to the Meadowlands on my birthday was fun!

So off to get ready to take the bus to Newark and onto New Brunswick.

Hope you have enjoyed your coffee (or tea as someone reminded me Not Everyone drinks as much coffee as you do!) and my rant :)

Welcome to Friday

It's is very early Friday morning and we are getting ready to hit the road for a trip to NJ. Looking forward to seeing my aunt and my sister. We are going to a closing for my aunts photo show. I love the pictures she hung, a variety of places, scenes, and people.

I really need a link to Willie Nelson's song "On the Road Again..."

I'll write from the road, as I need to go now. If not hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Ciao for now :D

On The Road Again

I've had a peaceful time in NJ these past two weeks. My Aunt is doing so much better now, compared to when I arrived here the end of August.

I did finish a quick Jelly Roll top, pinned up the 1st of two borders for the DWR quilt, hemmed some stuff, took in some stuff, re-did some other stuff for my Aunt. Also helped my Aunt on some projects she had to have done.

Looking forward to being with my hubby, family, and friends at home. I have missed them all.

Hope you have enjoyed your coffee and my rant.

Off to NJ

Hello from sunny Highland Park NJ :)

Last weeks hurricane wreaked havoc in the Northeast. Vermont more than other areas, but still, we had our share at home, in Newton and in Central NJ, where my aunt lives. When I spoke to her the day after the hurricane moved on, she did not sound all that well... So I decided to travel down. I am glad I did, we've been visiting a few doctors offices of late. Ah well, life is better now.

I did bring a few projects to work on here, and now have a few more for my aunt while I am here as well. Good thing I like her sewing machine. It is not temperamental, which is a good thing...

Off to work on some projects and finish my coffee... Thanks for joining me.

Hope you enjoyed your coffee.
Ciao,
J :)
